Tarek Müller now invests in Korean skincare – including snail slime

About You co-founder Tarek Müller is investing in the cosmetics company Kencana, which sells Korean products in Europe.
About You co-founder Tarek Müller has a new company in his portfolio: The 36-year-old now relies on snail slime and salmon sperm – partially, that is.
The 36-year-old is the new main investor in the Hamburg-based cosmetics company Kencana. Its business model is simple: Kencana imports Korean skin care products to Germany and resells them here.
Nothing is produced in-house; a warehouse in Hamburg serves as a logistics hub. "This is strategically advantageous, because many products arrive from Korea by air or sea freight," says new CEO Tania Moser. Previously, she was managing director and co-owner of the Berlin-based pet food company Pets Deli.

In addition to classics such as sunscreen and skin cream, Kencana also relies on more unusual active ingredients: snail slime as a moisture booster, “reedle shots” made from sea sponge and even salmon sperm for cell regeneration, explains Moser.
She hopes to gain support from Müller, especially in the areas of e-commerce and performance marketing, especially in building a personalized customer journey—precisely what has made About You successful, says Moser.
When asked by Müller what he contributes besides capital, the entrepreneur himself remains rather evasive. In a statement, he praises Kencana for "strategic clarity, operational excellence, and a deep understanding of the product and target audience."
Sounds like a lot of buzzwords – but money and e-commerce know-how could actually help the company become more visible in Europe.
