Film adaptations of novels don't always follow the script to the letter. Sometimes the characters do resemble each other, but directors usually eliminate certain aspects. In the case of the famous Lord of the Rings trilogy, the actors barely resemble the characters described by JRR Tolkien, but user Jim Clyde Monge wanted to reflect the true nature of the books.
