Cuatroochenta acquires a firm specializing in combating e-commerce fraud.

The listed software development firm Cuatroochenta announced a few months ago that it was resuming its acquisition strategy to grow and has just completed its second transaction this year. The Castellón-based firm has closed the acquisition of the Catalan company Mar Payments Services (MP Services), which specializes in combating e-commerce fraud.

In this way, Cuatroochenta strengthens its position in the cybersecurity sector, the segment that has provided the most growth in the last year, and complements its portfolio with services for the detection and prevention of transactional and banking fraud .

MP Services focuses specifically on fraud prevention in sectors such as digital payments for airlines and e-commerce for leisure, fashion, and sports. Based in Barcelona, it has a staff of 14 professionals and reported revenues of €1.16 million in fiscal year 2024.

Cuatroochenta has not disclosed the transaction amount, although it notes that "the total transaction price is linked to the cash EBITDA to be recorded by MP Services in fiscal year 2025, with payments deferred to fiscal years 2026, 2027, and 2028."

This is Cuatroochenta's second acquisition in 2025, following that of 3ipunt . MP Servives will join the group's cybersecurity division alongside Sofistic, a leading firm in the protection of the banking sector and critical infrastructure in Central America, with which it complements its capabilities by leveraging its infrastructure and positioning.

Founded by Marc Nieto (CEO) and Marcelo Araujo (COO), MP Services is distinguished by its high level of specialization, with a team of experienced criminologists, experts in analyzing online transactions to detect fraud. The company has in-depth knowledge of behavioral patterns in this type of transaction, analyzing millions of transactions annually.

The clients

Its services are particularly in demand in sectors most exposed to high online transaction volumes, such as airlines, ticket sales, and fashion and sports retailers, helping them maximize their revenue by minimizing fraudulent pressure. Its clients include airlines from the IAG group , and leading e-commerce companies such as Tradeinn, Tous, and Bimba y Lola also rely on MP Services. This is a segment experiencing a sharp increase in cybercrime, as according to British consulting firm Juniper Research, e-commerce fraud will reach $91 billion by 2028 .

"MP Services adds a key layer of knowledge that, combined with the AI developments we're working on in Cuatroochenta's R&D department, will allow us to offer a globally scalable solution to this problem," explained Alfredo R. Cebrián, the company's CEO.

Cuatroochenta is a technology holding company with 12 offices in Spain and Latin America (Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Panama, and the Dominican Republic) employing more than 300 people. It has been listed on BME Growth since 2020.
