ELTIEMPO.com maintains its leadership in digital reputation in Colombia according to ScimagoLab.

ELTIEMPO.COM was recognized as the number one digital media outlet in Colombia in the global ranking of digital media reputation , prepared by ScimagoLab, a research group at the University of Granada (Spain). The ranking analyzed the performance of 6,000 online media outlets, including newspapers, magazines, and digitally native portals in more than 30 languages.
In the country, the ranking placed ELTIEMPO.COM in first place, followed by El Espectador and Semana Magazine. In fourth place is Portafolio.co, also owned by the EL TIEMPO publishing house.
The SCImago Media Rankings not only organizes a global list of media outlets, but also serves as a fundamental tool for examining the digital news landscape. Through its comparative approach, it allows for the detection of developing trends, variations in visibility, and shifts in media positioning, offering a relevant perspective on the transformation of journalism in the digital age.
In addition to ranking first in Colombia, ELTIEMPO.COM is among the nine most reputable digital media outlets in Latin America, behind outlets such as El Comercio of Peru, Infobae.com, Clarín and La Nación of Argentina, Veja of Brazil, O Globo of Brazil, and La República of Peru.

The SCImago Media Rankings methodology differs from traditional media measurement systems because it consists of a rigorous and objective analysis of each news organization's digital reputation, analyzing it by country.
This classification, based on academic practices, is based on a data selection and analysis process that strives for transparency and scientific rigor.
The first step to entering this ranking is to pass through a strict screening process. The initial classification categorizes media outlets by type (general, sports, business), language, country, and geographic reach.
However, to be considered, media outlets must meet three golden rules: be journalistic organizations, have digital autonomy with their own URL, and not be strictly local projects.

With these foundations, the SCImago Lab team, comprised of experts in journalism, social sciences, and data analysis, builds a Digital Reputation Indicator (DRI), which is the heart of the methodology.
This IRD draws on data from reputable digital measurement tools such as Semrush and Majestic, giving each of its four metrics an equal weight of 25 percent.
From Semrush, we extract the 'Authority Score', which measures the quality and overall influence of the site in search engines, and the 'Referring Domains', which counts the total number of domains that link to the site.
For its part, Majestic provides the 'Citation Flow', which reflects the number of links, and the 'Trust Flow', which evaluates the quality and reliability of those same links.
This combination of metrics, which weigh both quantity and quality, defines the media's position in the ranking, offering a snapshot of its leadership and development in the digital environment.
The result is a tool that not only classifies but also allows for research and analysis of the changing media ecosystem from an objective and globally comparable perspective.
