GTA 6: 700 locations leaked, massive online and more details

New leaks about Grand Theft Auto 6 detail an unprecedented scale: a world with over 700 explorable locations and a multiplayer mode that seeks to redefine the online experience. Here's what we know so far.
Anticipation for Grand Theft Auto 6 has reached a new peak following a series of leaks from sources previously shown to have reliable information about the game's development. The new details, circulating on forums and social media, paint a picture of a project of monumental ambition from Rockstar Games, with a planned release date of May 26, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
While Rockstar Games is maintaining a tight-lipped secret, information leaked by user "GameRoll," who previously correctly revealed the names of the protagonists, Jason and Lucia, offers a glimpse into what could be the most immersive open-world game to date.
One of the most striking details of the leak is the sheer scale of the world of Leonida, the fictional version of Florida. According to reports, GTA 6 will feature over 700 fully functional and explorable shops and interiors. This includes not only stores to rob, but also entire shopping malls to interact with and shop in, taking immersion to a level never before seen in the series.
This claim, if true, represents a quantum leap from Grand Theft Auto V, where most buildings were mere facades. The ability to enter hundreds of locations suggests a much denser world, full of opportunities for quests, side activities, and realistic interactions. The leak also mentions the presence of elevators in certain skyscrapers, reinforcing the idea of multi-level interiors and greater verticality in the map design.
"There are no home burglaries, but there are tons of stores. More than 700. The malls are functional." – Excerpt from the leak attributed to GameRoll.
The multiplayer component, tentatively called "GTA6MP," is also reportedly getting a massive overhaul. One of the most significant leaks suggests that Rockstar plans to increase the number of players per session from 32 to 64, with plans to expand it to 96 players.
To manage this increased player density, a new technology called "Fluid Access" is reportedly being developed. This system would allow for seamless integration between sessions, eliminating tedious loading screens and menus for joining activities. Players could participate in events and missions directly from Free Roam, seamlessly transitioning between different sessions. This approach seeks to create a more unified and dynamic online world, eliminating the barriers that fragment the current GTA Online experience.
The leak also provides details about the gameplay and the interaction between the two protagonists, Jason and Lucia:
- Limited Weapon System: As in Red Dead Redemption 2, players won't be able to carry their entire arsenal. A limited weapon wheel will be implemented, and the rest of the equipment must be stored in the trunk of vehicles. This adds a layer of strategy and realism.
- Improved Character Swapping: GTA V's protagonist-switching system is returning, but with a key improvement. Rumor has it that there will be a mode where you can swap between Jason and Lucia while the two are together in Free Roam, allowing for more complex and cooperative interactions.
- Scrapped Mechanics: According to the report, some mechanics seen in 2022 leaks, such as the ability to lie prone, have been removed from the final game because they didn't work as intended.
While all this information should be taken with a grain of salt until officially confirmed, the leaks paint an exciting picture. Rockstar Games not only appears to be building a bigger world, but one that's fundamentally more dense, interactive, and socially connected. If these promises are fulfilled, GTA 6 will not only be a best-seller, but could set a new standard for the video game industry for the next decade.
