Norwegian cybersecurity firm Pistachio opens in Valencia after raising $7 million.

Norwegian cybersecurity firm Pistachio opens in Valencia after raising $7 million.

Valencia continues to attract startups and tech firms to its innovative ecosystem . Pistachio , a Norwegian cybersecurity startup, has chosen the city for its international growth plans with a new office.

Pistachio, an Oslo-based startup specializing in Artificial Intelligence solutions for cybersecurity , has decided to expand into Spain after closing a $7 million funding round . According to the company's announcement a few weeks ago, the operation was led by Walter Ventures and also included the participation of other European funds such as Idékapital, Angel Invest (not to be confused with Juan Roig's Angels Capital), MP Pensjon, and J12 Ventures.

The Norwegian firm intends to progressively add more than 20 employees in the first few months to develop its approach to making digital security accessible to all. This represents significant growth, as according to its website, the company currently employs 30 people.

This joins other technology companies that have set their sights on Valencia, such as Microsoft and IBM, which once had an integrated circuit plant in the metropolitan area of the Valencian capital.

Founded in 2019, the company focuses on helping businesses address what remains one of the weakest areas of cybersecurity: human error . Its AI-powered platform runs autonomously in the background, delivering personalized training and cyberattack simulations to employees via email, Slack, or Microsoft Teams.

The platform is already present in 16 countries , with users in 99 countries and more than 600 companies, including the University of St. Andrews and the insurance company The RiskPoint Group. In addition to growing in Europe, plans include expanding to North America.

The location

The Scandinavian firm has chosen a flexible space in the Wayco Cabañal building , located at 17 Mariano Cuber Street, according to real estate consultancy Savills, which advised on the transaction.

The private office format within coworking spaces is allowing various companies to establish themselves in the city progressively and in line with the development needs of their business plans, especially near La Marina , an area that concentrates entrepreneurial growth in Valencia. Here, Pistachio will occupy a private space with all the services offered by the Valencian coworking operator Wayco.
