Seven years later, Apple launched one of the most anticipated health features in Argentina.

Argentine users of the Apple Watch have reason to celebrate. The latest update to the smartwatch finally enabled one of the most anticipated health features for Series 4 and later models in the country, which was announced globally seven years ago.
The electrocardiogram function (ECG) was introduced in December 2018 alongside the watchOS 5.1.2 operating system, also accompanied by the irregular heart rhythm notification tool.
However, the feature is not available in all countries due to regional health regulations. The ECG is considered a medical feature that requires approval from local health authorities .
These approvals vary by country, as each has distinct regulatory processes for medical devices, involving testing for safety, efficacy, and compliance with specific regulations.
Now, finally, not only the models launched that year, but also more advanced devices like the Apple Watch Ultra , can perform this study quickly and easily, directly from the wrist of the Argentine user.

An electrocardiogram ( ECG ) records the electrical impulses that cause the heart to beat and can identify any irregularities, such as atrial fibrillation (AF), one of the most common arrhythmias. The app analyzes the heart rate and rhythm. and generates a report that can be exported to PDF to share with healthcare professionals.
The app uses the Apple Watch's electrical heart rate sensor to record heart rhythm. It also compares the heart's electrical impulses to detect whether the atria and ventricles are beating in sync.
Please note that the ECG feature is not intended for users under the age of 22 and requires that your iPhone and Apple Watch be updated to the latest versions of iOS and watchOS.
Configuration is done from the iPhone's Health app, under Heart > Electrocardiograms (ECG) .
Once installed, the user can take an ECG at any time , especially if they feel palpitations, irregular rhythm or receive a notification of altered rhythm.

- Place your Apple Watch on your wrist and open the ECG app by following this path: My Watch > General > Position.
- Sit with your arms supported and relaxed.
- With your other hand, gently rest one finger on the Digital Crown (without pressing).
- Hold it for 30 seconds.
- Upon completion, you will receive an assessment with the opportunity to record symptoms.
- The data will be saved in the Health app on your iPhone.
