The European Innovation Fund acquires 17.2% of MySphera

The healthcare technology startup raises capital to grow abroad.
The European Innovation Council Fund (EIC Fund), the European Commission's financial instrument for supporting technology companies, has acquired a 17.2% stake in MySphera. The firm recently launched a capital increase in which several venture capital funds that were already part of the company's shareholding also participated, specifically Swaanlab, Sabadell, Wayra, and Aliad.
Both the EIC and these three investors had already supported this company two years ago, when they subscribed to a convertible bond issue for €2.7 million .
The Valencian company, dedicated to technology for the healthcare sector, notes that Europe is strengthening its strategy " to accelerate its international growth and consolidation, as well as to drive the development of new technological lines, especially in the field of artificial intelligence applied to hospital efficiency and advanced care coordination solutions," it states in a statement.
The EIC Fund selects companies with high potential for strategic impact for Europe and, in the case of Mysphera, has identified a technology capable of providing real solutions to key challenges facing the European healthcare system, such as reducing waiting lists and alleviating healthcare staff overload.
Mysphera has a turnover of more than 3 million euros and a staff of more than 30 people, predominantly technical professionals.
ExpectationsBeyond financial support, "the addition of the EIC Fund reinforces our position as a key solution for improving efficiency, sustainability, and humaneness in hospital processes," explains Salvador Vera , the company's CEO.
"As a pioneer in real-time location systems and the digital transformation of healthcare, MySphera embodies the kind of innovation and social impact that the EIC Fund is proud to support," said Svetoslava Georgieva, President of the EIC Fund.
Through its Bluetooth-enabled patient tracking system , it can accurately record every stage of the surgical process, providing real-time information on each patient's status both in the operating room (with its ORVital product) and in the emergency room (with Stela). This data management provides centers with tools for strategic decision-making, increasing efficiency, reducing wait times, and increasing hospitals' response capacity.
