What iOS 26 brings and when the iPhone 17 is released: the latest from Apple

Following the close of Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2025), all eyes were focused not only on the innovations presented, but also on what's coming to the public: the long-awaited iPhone 17. Although the company hasn't revealed official details about the new device, everything indicates that its launch will follow the tradition of being every September.
For over a decade, Apple has chosen this month as a key date to announce its new devices. This is because September marks the start of the final quarter of the year, a strategic time that coincides with commercial events like Black Friday and the holiday season. Launching on this date guarantees greater market presence at the peak of global consumer spending.
In addition, Apple also introduced the new iOS 26 operating system, which represents a leap forward in aesthetics and functionality. The most striking new feature is the Liquid Glass interface, a visual redesign that incorporates translucent elements and animations that dynamically react to the user's surroundings. This overhaul seeks to unify the visual experience across all Apple platforms: iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Apple TV.

On the other hand, iOS 26 is powered by Apple Intelligence, a new suite of AI-based tools that introduces features such as real-time translation for calls and messages; personalized emoji generation using "Genmoji"; and automatic email summaries with smart reminders. It should be noted that these features will only be available from the iPhone 15 Pro onwards.
Other apps will see improvements in messaging; this app will include polls in chats and options to customize conversation backgrounds . Safari will be able to adopt the Liquid Glass aesthetic, with a lighter and more transparent navigation bar. And for those who own a car, CarPlay incorporates new features, such as streaming content from the iPhone to the vehicle via AirPlay.

iOS 26 is now available in developer beta, with a planned release date of fall 2025. The iPhone generations supported by the new operating system are: iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, and 15 (including all mini, Pro, and Pro Max variants), and iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation).
