WhatsApp radically changes group calls on iPhone: this is its new design

WhatsApp is one of the most used messaging apps in Spain, and Meta frequently updates it to improve the user experience and our way of communicating. In our country, features such as advanced chat privacy have recently been implemented , among other new features we use every day , but now it has radically changed group calls on iPhone.
Previously, the active call bar appeared at the top of the screen, which could be annoying, but this change makes it easier to participate in active calls while continuing to chat. With the new update, this bar has moved to the bottom of the screen , just above the text field where you type messages.
A more modern and intuitive interfaceIn other words, this change makes the interface design more modern, as well as more practical, as it allows you to access call functions much more easily with your thumb without moving your hand too much. It also coincides with the new icons that indicate when someone is writing or recording a voice note .
From this bar, you can mute your microphone , see who's online (the total number of participants is displayed), raise your hand to speak, or leave the call . This feature is currently available on iOS and is expected to arrive on Android soon, as it doesn't yet appear on some models like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra .
