Phone (3): Nothing unveils its most ambitious and controversial smartphone

The Nothing Phone (3) is finally official. It features high-end components, but also a design that won't please everyone.

Nothing fans have been waiting for the arrival of the Phone (3) for over a year after the excellent feedback from the company's first two phones. The young London company has just unveiled its most ambitious smartphone with a clear objective: to offer an original design as well as excellent performance.

We were able to get a sneak peek at the Phone (3) when it was announced in London, and that's why we're already offering you some in-house shots of the smartphone, which will soon be available for review.

So, the Nothing Phone (3) is clearly not going unnoticed. Its design had unfortunately leaked a few days before its official launch, and the first feedback was already very divisive about it. The smartphone no longer has the Glyph system composed of small LEDs on its back that had made Nothing famous for several years. Instead, the firm has opted for the Glyph Mirror, a small pixelated screen located at the top right of the back of the device and which allows all sorts of interactions that we will discuss later.

In terms of performance, the Nothing Phone (3) is equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 processor. A choice that has been criticized since it is the company's most ambitious smartphone while this chip is not the most powerful on the market. It should nevertheless provide very good performance in everyday use, but its capabilities will have to be tested when playing video games and launching multiple applications.

The Phone (3)'s screen is also more ambitious than the company's previous smartphones. It's an AMOLED screen that can increase its brightness up to 4500 nits and has a 1.5K resolution. The refresh rate is, of course, 120 Hz for great fluidity.

For photography, Nothing goes all out by equipping its Phone (3) with no fewer than four different sensors with the same megapixels to offer great versatility to users and videographers:

  • Main lens: 50 MP
  • Ultra wide angle sensor: 50 Mpx
  • Zoom camera: 50 MP
  • Selfie camera (front): 50 MP

The Phone (3) is therefore equipped with a mini screen on the back of the smartphone. Called "Glyph Matrix", this screen allows you to enjoy your mobile while leaving it on a table, and therefore, to limit your screen time. The Glyph Matrix will display your notifications according to your customization, but also has several tools and mini games that can be displayed. Nothing notably mentioned a timer, a battery monitor, a compass, etc. This screen is also open to the community to allow users to propose their own small interactions.

For battery life, Nothing has opted for a 5150 mAh carbon silicone battery. This represents a 17% higher capacity than the Phone (2). Charging has also been improved, going from 45 W to 65 W, which allows half the smartphone to be recharged in less than 20 minutes, according to the brand.

What is the price of the Nothing Phone (3)?

The Nothing Phone (3) will be available in two configurations. Unfortunately, France pays the price of its local taxes and the smartphone is more expensive here than in our neighboring countries:

  • Nothing Phone (3) - 256 GB: 849 euros
  • Nothing Phone (3) - 512 GB: 949 euros

Quite high prices therefore which make the Phone (3) the most expensive product of the firm and places it in direct competition with certain Samsung Galaxy S and older generation iPhones.

What is the release date of the Nothing Phone (3)?

The Nothing Phone (3) was officially announced on Tuesday, July 1st. Pre-orders open on July 4th with an initial drop exclusive to the Nothing website on July 12th and a general release on July 15th.
