Virtual Boy - Nintendo Classics: Where to find the new edition of Nintendo's classic console?

The latest Nintendo Direct revealed a surprising new accessory: a reissue of the Virtual Boy console! Pre-order it today to enjoy the games

Who would have thought that Nintendo would resurrect the Virtual Boy? Originally released in 1995, this Nintendo console didn't exactly achieve the success it was expected to, becoming the lowest-selling console in the company's history. Nintendo has nevertheless revealed that a new edition is available for pre-order today!

This isn't, strictly speaking, a re-release of the console, but rather an accessory that replicates its design! However, the latter is empty to accommodate a Nintendo Switch or Nintendo Switch 2 that can simulate the screen of a real Virtual Boy.

You'll then be able to play the new game compilation inspired by the original Virtual Boy classics provided you have the Nintendo Switch Online subscription + expansion pack. This compilation will be available from February 17, 2026, while the accessory can be found on the official Nintendo Switch Online website for subscribers. It is notably possible to find the Virtual Boy on the official website where you will also find a cardboard version for tighter budgets.
