Emerging Technologies, Albergo dei Poveri Becomes an Innovation Hub

A new chapter for the innovation, culture and productive fabric of the city begins at the Real Albergo dei Poveri in Naples. Open doors for the technological laboratories of the Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti in Naples Infiniti Mondi, the hub dedicated to research and experimentation of the most innovative technologies in the creative and cultural fields. More than 1,200 square meters redeveloped and equipped with cutting-edge technologies now host four thematic laboratories open to businesses and creative realities in the area. Infiniti Mondi is a public infrastructure designed to make innovation accessible to small businesses, artisans and young creatives. An intervention that represents a virtuous example of urban regeneration and enhancement of the historical heritage, made possible thanks to the Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti call for proposals for support to 5G Technologies from the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, with the Municipality of Naples as the leader of a large scientific and entrepreneurial partnership. Metaverso, Digital Storytelling, Web 3.0 and Gaming & Gamification are the laboratories that companies can use by booking with just a few clicks on https://portale.casatecnologienapoli.it/laboratori. Enriching the offer for companies is the laboratory dedicated to Quantum technologies, located at the Meditech Competence Center, a partner of the project. With the opening of the laboratories, Infiniti Mondi aims to increasingly be a place of integration between art, science and technology, a driving force of technological, professional, cultural and social innovation, open to the city, businesses and the territory. At the same time, the House of Emerging Technologies gives the monumental complex a public, cultural and productive vocation, open to the contemporary challenges of the creative and technological industry. “With the experience of Casa delle Tecnologie Emergenti Infiniti Mondi, a technology transfer model has been created that has been able to bring together languages and experiences from different worlds, involving the world of research and business, transforming diversity into an engine of innovation,” commented the mayor of Naples, Gaetano Manfredi. “In Naples, we wanted to demonstrate that innovation is not an abstract concept, but an immersive and concrete experience, where businesses can experiment and seize new opportunities for an inclusive and participatory path capable of involving the city in all its articulations,” he added. “Then this is a piece of the redevelopment project of the Albergo dei Poveri where, together with the new headquarters of the Mann, the headquarters of the university, the large public library, there will also be this space for innovation, for business incubators, for the entire creative supply chain.” Five laboratories. The Metaverso laboratory offers an immersive, interactive, sensory-inclusive experiential path. It offers a multisensory 'journey' presenting various use cases that talk about science, art, technology, tourism and even sports. Here it is possible to design, develop and test Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Mixed Reality and Extended Reality solutions 'enhanced' in their fruition modes thanks to artificial intelligence and machine learning services. Solutions made available to the public both through site-specific stations and online, on web-cloud platforms. The laboratory dedicated to experimenting with Web 3.0 is a decentralized network that puts the user, privacy and content customization at the center. It allows you to develop applications based on AI and blockchain to create customized digital experiences, from culture to entertainment. Here, automatically generated content is designed and active communities are built, rewarding participation and interaction. The Digital Storytelling area is dedicated to the creation of interactive narrative experiences through audio, video and multimedia content for innovative projects in the cultural, educational and creative sectors. The laboratory is equipped with audio/video workstations, production sets and tools for digital storytelling, and is divided into three functional areas: creative area, meeting area and presentation area. The Gaming & Gamification area is dedicated to the design of video games, interactive experiences and gamification solutions, with the integration of AI tools. 2D and 3D assets and content for the videogame, architectural, engineering and creative sectors will be developed there. It is equipped with high-performance workstations, consoles, rendering servers, AR/VR devices and 3D printers. It also includes a motion capture area to acquire real movements and transfer them to digital characters. It is divided into four operational sections: server area, develop & 3D area, recording area and test & show area. Finally, the 5G-Quantum laboratory, advanced for the design and development of Quantum Communication, aims to implement secure communication protocols to guarantee absolute confidentiality of communication against attacks based on both conventional and quantum computing. The laboratories were inaugurated today during the event 'Infiniti Mondi: accelerating business, valorizing talent', an opportunity for discussion around the themes of technological innovation applied to Made in Italy, creativity and craftsmanship.
