Super Beaver Moon: A plane flies past the lunar disk in Cologne.

On the night between November 5th and 6th, the so-called “Beaver Moon” put on a breathtaking show in the skies over the city of Cologne, Germany.
It is called a Supermoon when the particular combination of a full Moon coinciding with the perigee (the point of minimum distance from the Earth) occurs, which makes the disk appear slightly larger and brighter than usual.
The name “Beaver Moon” comes from North American tradition, according to which at this time of year beavers are particularly active in building their dams before winter.
An average of three to four supermoons can be observed in a year: the last of 2025 is expected on December 4th.
