Tariffs further increase the price of Xboxes in the US

Next month, Microsoft will raise the prices of its Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X video game consoles in the United States. This is the second price increase this year, following one in 2023.
"Starting October 3, we will update the suggested retail prices for Series S and Series X consoles in the U.S. due to changes in the macroeconomic environment," Microsoft wrote in a statement. "We recognize that these changes are challenging and are being carefully evaluated. Looking ahead, we will continue to focus on offering more ways to play more games on any screen and delivering value to Xbox gamers."
The price in the US will therefore increase from $599.99 to $649.99 for the Series X, while the Series S will cost $399.99, up from the current $379.99. Outside the United States, the price of the consoles will remain unchanged, as will that of Microsoft-branded gamepads and headphones.
Sony, a direct competitor of the American giant with the PlayStation, found itself having to raise the price of the PS5 in the US in August due to tariffs and the cost of production materials, mostly sourced from China and Japan.
