Apple accuses former employee of stealing confidential information from Vision Pro glasses

Apple has charged a former employee with allegedly stealing confidential information from the Vision Pro glasses just before joining Snap, Snapchat 's parent company. The lawsuit filed by the Cupertino company accuses the employee of illegally stealing a "massive volume" of documents containing confidential information from Apple 's internal systems and the Vision Pro glasses . Of course, this person wasn't just anyone at the company.
Apple sues former employee for stealing confidential informationDi Liu, an engineer who spent seven years at Apple , rising to become a senior product design engineer and working on the development of the Apple Vision Pro smartphones. According to The Verge , he falsely claimed he was quitting his job for health reasons and failed to disclose that he had a new, similar job at Snap . And this is what he's being accused of.
That is, Liu wasn't leaving the Cupertino company for health reasons, but because he already had a deal with Snap , which he accepted two weeks earlier. That's why, by not informing anyone that he was going to start a similar job at another company, he was able to continue accessing the documents he had at Apple , the technology for the version that was released to the public, as well as everything that hasn't yet been implemented.
This prevented Apple from immediately revoking Liu's access to internal systems , a standard protocol the firm implements when an employee joins a competitor, allowing him to download thousands of documents and save them all to a personal account. Apple became aware of this when they examined his work Mac .
Liu not only used his work computer to store all this information, but he also allegedly deleted key elements to conceal the movement of the files . At this time, Apple can't determine exactly what Liu downloaded, but it's believed to include documents related to the device's R&D, cost data, quality control, and supply chain.

Apple has not accused Snap in the lawsuit, as it has no reason to link it to Liu's conduct, but it does suggest that he intended to use the extracted and confidential information on Snap with its Spectacles glasses .
Apple is seeking unspecified damages from Liu for breaching his contractual obligations and seeking the return of stolen documents and a court order to search his devices and cloud accounts .
