TUXTLA GUTIÉRREZ, Chis. (apro).- A small plane with Guatemalan registration TG-TJG crashed this Friday in the area of ​​Pavencul and the municipality of Motozintla, Chiapas, in the Sierra region. It exploded, leaving three dead: the pilot, the copilot, and a crew member, authorities reported.

"The plane is currently burning; an ambulance and a civil protection assistance patrol from Motozintla were deployed to the scene. No further information is available at this time because the area is difficult to access," the Civil Protection Secretariat stated.

The Directorate General of Civil Aeronautics reported that "the pilot and copilot, both of Guatemalan origin, were on board the aircraft, as well as a Mexican crew member, who unfortunately died in the accident."

He said the aircraft was carrying out an operation related to responding to the health emergency caused by the presence of the screwworm.

The release of flies is the responsibility of the personnel of the company Servicios Mubarqui S. de RL de CV in the border region of Mexico with Guatemala in Tabasco and Chiapas, and in nearby territories of Guatemala, by aircraft.

For the services of "aerial release of sterile flies, parasitoids and screwworms", "the daily import of biological material such as eggs, pupae and/or larvae, as well as the import of pupae of the cattle screwworm" and the mobilization of personnel in charge of applying and supervising methods to combat this pest, the National Service of Health, Safety and Agrifood Quality, Senasica, invested 165 million 593 thousand 805 pesos.
