Max changes his name again; this is what he will be called now

MEXICO.— The Max app will once again change its name, however, after the “new” name was announced, several have called the changes that this streaming platform has undergone absurd.

At an event that also unveiled the platform's new programming, Warner Bros. Discovery executives emphasized that this change comes as the company seeks to highlight its strongest offerings.

However, following the announcement of the name change, some internet users have pointed out that the company has suffered several failures, and the name "Max" is just another one.

Max will be HBO Max again. Recall that Warner Bros Discovery changed the name of HBO Max to Max in 2023 shortly after the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery in 2022, it is precisely this that gave rise to the creation of WBD .

Likewise, by changing the name of the streaming platform after the "birth" of WBD , the company led by David Zaslav intended to highlight the diversity of content on the platform, which includes original productions from HBO, Warner Bros. Pictures , and Discovery.

However, now with the return of the HBO Max name, the aim is to give a new lease of life to HBO , the crown jewel of WBD 's content catalog. And while the company also spoke about new programming for 2026 at the event that confirmed the streaming platform's name change , several couldn't help but focus their attention on the return of "HBO ."

It is worth noting that this is the fourth time in a decade that the platform has changed its name , going from HBO Go (2008) to HBO Now (2015), then HBO Max (2020) and when it seemed like the end, the app was called Max (2023).

But apparently that name did not convince the public, so in 2025 it will be called HBO Max again, and we will see if with this change the app manages to improve its position, because despite its extensive catalog the company is still behind competitors such as Netflix and Amazon Prime Video.
