Vodafone Spain, the new technology partner of Getafe CF's New Coliseum

Getafe CF has selected Vodafone Spain as its strategic technology partner to offer a first-class experience to both members and fans, as well as club staff (players, coaching staff, media, and administrative staff) at the Nuevo Coliseum stadium. The integration of cutting-edge technological solutions will position the Nuevo Coliseum as a smart stadium, prepared for the operational, security, connectivity, and technological evolution challenges that professional football demands now and in the coming years.
Vodafone sources explain that, for Getafe CF fans, this agreement "will mean enjoying the best browsing experience to share everything that happens on the pitch." For example, with high-definition video or high-quality HD calls from anywhere in the stadium with high availability. In this sense, Vodafone is responsible for the design, deployment, and start-up of the communications infrastructure with the installation of a dedicated 5G node, with ultra-fast fiber throughout the stadium (stands, preferential tribune, and corners) and with more than 200 Wi-Fi 7 points distributed throughout the New Coliseum grounds.
Vodafone's 5G technology increases 4G speeds by a factor of 10. In addition, the operator will use Massive MIMO technology to significantly increase the capacity and efficiency of its mobile networks, both 5G and 4G, allowing more users to connect simultaneously and offering higher speeds in the stadium. This technology uses multiple antennas to direct the signal more precisely, achieving a faster, more stable, and top-quality experience.
A flexible and scalable network design
A flexible and scalable network design will enable the provision of cyber-secure internet access throughout the stadium, as well as digital access control and IP video surveillance services, sensors and monitoring systems, video scoreboards, LED screens, a sound system, and connectivity with club services. For example, the video access control system integrates artificial intelligence to detect dangerous objects, facial recognition, and behavioral analysis with real-time threat alerts.
Furthermore, to meet the club's operational needs, redundant video conferencing services, internal management platforms, streaming services, digital signage, and Wi-Fi hotspots will be provided for staff, press, and guests, with the highest security standards.
Vodafone will provide technical training to Getafe CF staff responsible for network oversight, including the use of monitoring and management tools, basic operating procedures, and incident diagnosis and escalation. This ensures the club can maintain visibility and control over its infrastructure, even if daily operations are delegated.
With this project, Getafe Club de Fútbol, a team in its 21st season in the First Division since achieving promotion in 2004 and currently ranked twelfth in the 21st-century LaLiga standings, will benefit from a technologically advanced stadium capable of optimizing operational management and offering new digital services to members and fans. The venue will become a safer and more connected environment, serving as a benchmark in the application of technology in sports and entertainment settings.
José Miguel García, CEO of Vodafone Spain , noted that "this agreement with Getafe CF reaffirms our commitment to developing large, smart, and connected venues, applying our expertise in 5G and reliable connectivity to create safer and more efficient spaces for the enjoyment of the club's members, fans, and staff."
Antonio Sánchez, CEO of Getafe CF , stated that "this agreement with Vodafone Spain reaffirms our commitment to our members and fans to offer them the best technological experience at the New Coliseum. Thanks to the implementation of cutting-edge connectivity solutions, our stadium will become a benchmark in innovation, safety, and sustainability, not only in sports but also as a venue for hosting major events in the Community of Madrid."
