Fire in Seia: almost 500 operational personnel and 16 aerial resources

There are 481 personnel, supported by 139 vehicles and 16 aerial resources, fighting a fire that broke out this Saturday near Sandomil, in the municipality of Seia, district of Guarda, according to Civil Protection.

According to a source from the Sub-regional Emergency and Civil Protection Command of Beiras and Serra da Estrela, at 15:45, the fire continued “with two active fronts” and forced the closure of the EN 17, between the towns of Catraia de São Romão (Seia) and Póvoa das Quartas (Oliveira do Hospital, district of Coimbra), at 13:25.

"The fire is active and has two active fronts. The strong winds are making it difficult to fight," said the same source, who did not confirm to Lusa the existence of any areas under lockdown or at risk.
