Pensioners, God Save You from the Block

Pensioners, God Save You from the Block

In the debate with the leaders of the parties with seats in parliament, broadcast live on the evening of May 4th on RTP, marking the official start of the campaign for the legislative elections on May 18th, Mariana Mortágua stated that the contributions of immigrants are enough to pay the pensions of 500,000 Portuguese, with their approximately 3 billion euros in contributions to Social Security (hereinafter SS).

The Left Bloc MP forgot that the pensioners she is talking about have paid contributions to the Social Security system, some for forty years or more, and that those who supposedly pay half a million in pensions are paying contributions for their own pension and not for others. And that, due to the age at which they arrive in our country, foreign immigrants will certainly not pay contributions for more than half the contribution period of Portuguese citizens.

This covert crusade against workers and pensioners, and their labor and social rights, in favor of the woke fashion of supporting immigrant communities and ethnic minorities, will lead the Left Bloc to a result that is close to residual. It is a process that we can call the negligent “Nazification” of society, aimed at turning workers against workers, divide and rule, waving the bogeyman of the extreme right, but at the same time encouraging its growth or resurgence.

Mariana did not mention the networks of exploitation of immigrants that she defends, the mafias and human trafficking, as the CDU representative did. This is a distorted view of the welfare state, which was created to help citizens with economic difficulties, not at the expense of others who are equally disadvantaged, but of those who have a surplus of income. This view, in extremis and if applied, would contribute to deepening the gap between rich and poor, increasing poverty rates, leaving citizens without a voice, the truly unprotected, precisely those that the far left should defend and enlighten.

If Mariana did her maths correctly, she would come to the conclusion, just like us, that an immigrant who earns around €600 per month, assuming that he makes deductions, pays the Social Security around €900 per year, a sum that, multiplied by the approximately 1 million announced, comes to €900 million and not 3 billion. The remainder comes from rich foreigners and Portuguese emigrants around the world, not from poor immigrants to whom, cowardly and unscrupulously, the “promised land” was and continues to be beckon.

Sister Mortágua knows very well that it is the middle class that is overwhelmed with taxes and not those who earn an average of €600 per month who, if you make deductions, only pay 11% to the Social Security.

This is the truth of the lie that in 2021 took 14 deputies from the Bloquistas (left-wing?) and that could now take away one or two more, threatening to withdraw their status as a parliamentary group in the short term.

In the dispute for this niche of the electorate, it is Rui Tavares' Livre that wins with the nonsense of Mariana and her cronies (of what is today the farce of a party that does not honor the credentials of its arch-founders, who valued the worker, the peasant, honest work and criticized the lumpenproletariat, as a support base for autocratic society), and it is expected that the poppy party will surpass the BE in number of deputies.

Hence the title we gave to this chronicle: God Save You from the Block!
