The Chinese e-commerce giant is betting on AI, investing billions of dollars.

The Chinese company Alibaba Group Holding Limited announced the development of the largest language model based on artificial intelligence, Qwen3-Max.
This model contains over a trillion variable parameters that individually determine how the acquired information is processed. This solution is of paramount importance for cloud services.
Global investment in artificial intelligence will reach $4 trillion over the next five years. Alibaba will soon expand the plan it unveiled in February. At that time, we planned to spend $53.4 billion on developing AI models and infrastructure, said Alibaba CEO Eddie Wu.
Alibaba said that entire teams are working on new processors, network technologies, and data storage solutions.
The new project is the AI-based multimodal Qwen3-Omni system, useful in virtual and artificial intelligence applications such as smart glasses or cabins.
Alibaba shares rose 7.8% to a four-year high during trading on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange . The company is also listed on the NYSE in New York. Shares are up 9.87% in pre-market trading to $179.20.
