Apple Isn't Afraid of Trump. It's Increasing Production in the Country

"Apple executives have firmly assured the Indian government that there will be no changes in plans to expand production and investment in India," The Times of India reported, citing anonymous sources.
Moreover, the American company, in a conversation with the newspaper's interlocutors, praised the conditions of its operations in India, calling it one of the best countries in the world to do business.
Apple is currently investing $2.5 billion to increase production in India from 40 to 60 million devices per year and has already started assembling lines to produce iPhone 17 phones.
Apple's growth in India is supported by its main suppliers – the Taiwanese company Foxconn and the Indian corporation Tata Group. As production increases, Apple is increasing iPhone sales in India. In early September, the company will open retail stores in Bangalore (Karnataka) and Pune (Maharashtra). By the end of 2025, the number of Apple stores in India's largest cities is expected to reach six.
According to Bloomberg, Apple achieved a record increase in smartphone shipments from India to the US amid the threat of a 50% tariff on Indian exports from August 27. The company increased production of four new iPhone 17 models at five of its Indian factories and shifted most of its production for the US market from China to India to lessen the economic impact of the tariffs.
From April to June, iPhone exports from India increased by 82% compared to the same period in 2024. According to statistics from the Indian Mobile Phone and Electronics Association, Apple products accounted for 70% of all smartphones shipped abroad by the country.
