France and India to develop engine for AMCA fighter jet

India and France have signed a new collaboration for the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA), India's first fifth-generation stealth fighter jet project. The two countries will jointly develop and produce a 120 kN jet engine.
The project will be carried out in collaboration with French aerospace giant Safran and Indian engineers. The agreement will provide full technology transfer and domestic production capabilities to India.
Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh emphasised the strategic importance of cooperation for the country and said:
"For India to rise as a global power, we must design, develop and manufacture world-class engines within the country. Our partnership with France and Safran will enable this vision to become a reality."
According to defence experts, the project will contribute greatly to India's goals of independence and domestic production in the defence industry.
