He was murdered in front of his 5-year-old child: My father held him and my grandfather stabbed him

Başak Gürkan Arslan, a certified engineer working as a civilian employee at the 5th Main Maintenance Factory Directorate of the Ministry of National Defense's General Directorate of Military Factories, welcomed her husband Barış Arslan, who was going through a divorce, and her father-in-law Kudret Arslan into her home yesterday to talk. In the ensuing argument, Kudret Arslan stabbed her daughter-in-law with a knife she retrieved from the kitchen in front of their 5-year-old daughter. Başak Gürkan Arslan, who left the house wounded, was stabbed again in the neck by her father-in-law, who followed her and died at the scene. Kudret Arslan and her son Barış Arslan were taken into custody.
A funeral ceremony was held for Başak Gürkan Arslan at the Pir Sultan Abdal Cemevi in Batıkent. Her family, relatives, and numerous citizens attended the ceremony. Following prayers, forgiveness was sought. Başak's mother, father, and siblings were moved to tears during the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, women carried Arslan's coffin into the hearse. Başak Gürkan Arslan's remains will be laid to rest tomorrow in the Mudanya district of Bursa.
'HE SAYS MY GRANDFATHER AND GRANDFATHER DID IT'
Başak Gürkan Arslan's sister, Yaprak Gürkan Nar, said, "Her father-in-law and her husband went home. They stabbed her in front of her 5-year-old daughter. When the father-in-law entered the house, he said, 'I'll handle it, you wait.' He immediately went to the kitchen. He immediately got the knife. He stabbed her inside. She ran outside. When she ran outside, she fell to the ground. I just looked at her body; there was a huge blow to her head. She fell to the ground. When she fell to the ground, they slit her throat. The child said, 'I saw my mother's blood.' He said, 'I saw the bones in her throat.' He said, 'My grandfather and father did it.' He said, 'My father held her, and my grandfather stabbed her.'"
"THERE ARE CAMERAS IN THE HOUSE, THEY SAID HE SAW IT"
Başak Gürkan Arslan's sister, Işıl Bektaş, said that no such incident as assault had ever occurred before, saying, "They were in the process of divorce. We never considered it. If it had, we would have tried to prevent it; but we never considered it. My sister was a very strong woman. A very good mother, with her feet firmly on the ground, intelligent, and protective of her children. We didn't witness any violence. But my sister was very devoted to her family. She was very devoted to her home. Even if she had, she wouldn't have told us. We didn't witness anything like it. As far as we know, her husband and father-in-law went to my mother's house first."
They were already in divorce proceedings. Court date had arrived. They went to talk. My mother and father hadn't asked for anything from them. They hadn't asked for alimony for the child. They had already divided everything they had. They wrote that in the court petition. 'We don't want alimony from you either,' they said. 'Let it end on a happy note, let it end with love.' They said, 'We know Başak is home today.' My mother said, 'How do you know?' They said, 'There are cameras in the house. We saw it from there.'"
The divorce case would be heard 14 days later.
Meanwhile, it was reported that the couple's divorce case will be heard on September 23rd. Başak Gürkan Arslan reportedly purchased the house where the incident occurred a year ago. It was reported that the son of the former owner stabbed someone to death, and the family sold the house and relocated to Kayseri.
