India Issues Fuel Switch Inspection Instruction for Boeing 787 and 737 Aircraft

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) of India has taken a significant step following last month's tragic plane crash. After a preliminary investigation into the June 12 crash of an Air India plane revealed that fuel flow to the engines stopped immediately after takeoff, it ordered the inspection of fuel valves on all Boeing 787 and 737 aircraft.
According to news from India Today, the DGCA sent a notice to airlines in the country, asking them to meticulously check the fuel systems of the relevant Boeing models in their fleets by July 21.
The preliminary report on the accident, presented to the public, emphasized that both engines stopped simultaneously due to a loss of fuel flow, causing the aircraft to lose all thrust.
In the June 12 accident, Air India flight 171, en route from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad to London Gatwick Airport in England, crashed in the Meghani Nagar district shortly after takeoff. The disaster claimed the lives of 260 people.
Authorities continue to work on comprehensive measures to prevent a repeat of the tragic incident.
