Market value reached $4 trillion... Remarkable 'chip' statement from the CEO

Market value reached $4 trillion... Remarkable 'chip' statement from the CEO

Huang said China doesn't need American semiconductors to boost its military capabilities. He said China can't rely on American technologies because they could be restricted at any time.

Stating that China currently has sufficient computing power, Huang stated that the country has developed hundreds of supercomputers and that these machines are used to train artificial intelligence models for military purposes.

When asked who will take the lead in the global race for artificial intelligence, Huang stated that this competition isn't about which country's chatbot is being used, but rather a deeper motivation. "Americans' desire to be the best in the world in information technology is part of the American spirit," Huang said, emphasizing the US's commitment to technology.

Huang also addressed former US President Donald Trump's planned global tariffs, stating that such steps are a tactic, not a goal. He argued that these moves contradict the strategy of global reliance on American software infrastructure.

MINERALS IN CHINA ARE CRITICAL

Huang also likened attempts to restrict American technology infrastructure access to China to China's rare earth export ban to the US. He said such bans have pushed the US to develop its own alternative solutions. The minerals in question are critical to chips produced by companies like NVIDIA.

The Trump administration excluded foreign-sourced semiconductors from the "Independence Day Tariffs" that went into effect on July 4. However, Trump has repeatedly stated that these products could be subject to tariffs in the future.

While China currently imposes a 30 percent tariff on imported goods, the 125 percent tariff proposed by the Trump administration makes a striking difference.
