OpenAI and Broadcom to jointly develop AI accelerators

A strategic collaboration has been signed in the artificial intelligence sector. OpenAI, a leader in the industry, has reached an agreement with Broadcom to manufacture and commission its own 10-gigawatt AI accelerator.
In a statement, OpenAI and Broadcom stated that the two companies will jointly develop systems that include Broadcom's accelerator and Ethernet solutions.
In the statement, it was noted that the companies collaborated for 10 gigawatt artificial intelligence accelerators, and that OpenAI will design the accelerators and systems, develop and commission them together with Broadcom.
The statement explained that OpenAI will be able to design its own chips and systems and integrate the knowledge it has gained while developing advanced artificial intelligence models and products directly into the hardware.
The statement also included information that Broadcom plans to begin installing racks of AI accelerators and network systems in the second half of 2026 and complete them by the end of 2029.
The statement noted that OpenAI has reached more than 800 million weekly active users, and that this collaboration will help the company advance its mission of "ensuring that artificial intelligence benefits all of humanity."
