Progress MS-29 Spacecraft Departs International Space Station

Progress MS-29 Spacecraft Departs International Space Station

The Russian Federal Space Agency Roscosmos announced that the Progress MS-29 cargo vehicle, which had been docked to the International Space Station (ISS) for some time, has completed its mission and left the station. The vehicle was docked to the Russian “Poisk” module of the ISS on November 23, 2024.

Progress MS-29's deorbit process will begin today at 00:46 Moscow time (same as Turkish time). The spacecraft's propulsion systems will perform a braking maneuver, which will slow it down and descend from orbit and enter the Earth's atmosphere. The unburned parts of the vehicle, which are expected to burn up largely in the dense layers of the atmosphere, will fall into a remote, uninhabited area in the southern Pacific Ocean.

Launched from the Baikonur Cosmodrome on November 21, 2024, Progress MS-29 carried dry cargo, fuel, drinking water, nitrogen for atmospheric renewal, and New Year gifts for the crew to the ISS.

In addition, the vehicle also delivered the necessary equipment to the station for scientific experiments on crew interaction dynamics, digestive system analysis, the relationship between body tissues and capillaries, water production from urine testing, crystal growth and 3D printing technologies.
