Dyson has launched a Spring Event, slashing prices on lots of techs, from cleaning devices to household gadgets. Just in time for the British summer, its Pure Cool Purifying fan is now £249.99, down from £399.99 - a saving of £150 saving. This device has ten different airflow modes, all manageable from the comfort of your couch with a remote control.

It also has two-stage filtration and a HEPA filter, which captures 99.95% of microscopic particles, including dust and pollen. It can also pump 434 litres of air per second, ideal for hot nights and the odd British summertime heatwave. Despite being on sale, £249.99 is a lot to pay for a fan, and some customers may find the price too steep.

There are alternatives on the market at varying price points. Currys is selling a Russell Hobbs tower fan for £119, featuring ten settings and a nice side-to-side oscillation. Over on Amazon, the Ultty Bladeless Tower Fan is £97.99, down from £139.99. The filter can capture 99.99% of dust, pollen, smoke, and odours, reports the Express.

Although pricey, Dyson's Pure Cool Purifying fan has a high customer satisfaction score of 4.2 out of 5, based on over 300 reviews. One impressed shopper shared: "Brilliant fan. It has made a huge difference to my son's hay fever and asthma." Another added: "Very happy with this purchase. Has proved invaluable with the recent hot weather, and the whole room is fresher."

A third wasn't as pleased, saying: "Overpriced if I'm honest, we don't have a big bedroom, and it's too noisy for airflow generated. "I think it may be louder than a £20 standard blade fan. The air purifier and remote are nice features, but for the money, I feel you can get a better product."

Another fourth buyer shared: "I bought this for my bedroom, and I am 100% happy with it. I put it on a timer, and it switches off while I sleep. I highly recommend it."

Another shopper concluded: “It was easy to put together. I was worried about noise at night, but there is no need as you turn the airflow control down and use the timer. I have never owned a fan before as they distribute dust, and I am asthmatic, but this Dyson air cooler is amazing. It really does what it says and makes a difference to air quality.

“The cooler also sits nicely in the corner. It’s well put together, light and easy to move around. I wouldn’t have believed that this air cooler could make such a huge difference, but it has. Amazing product. Highly recommended.”
