Idom and Mondragón will invest 70 million to establish themselves in the new Bilbao Campus.

The Mondragón corporation and the Idom engineering firm will be the first tenants of the new Zorrotzaurre technology park, with investments of around €20 million and €50 million, respectively.
The world's first urban technology campus is launching on the island of Zorrotzaurre in Bilbao, which the mayor of the Biscayan capital has already defined as "Campus Bilbao."
Mondragón and Idom are confident that their new centers will promote knowledge , technology, innovation, and advanced industry. The technology centers Ikerlan and Vicomtech, as well as Mondragón University and the Kunsthal and Digipen educational centers, have already committed their presence.
In the first phase, 46,000 square meters of commercial buildings will be developed on the northern tip of the island, where cutting-edge companies are planned to be located, surrounded by public facilities and housing.
Afterwards, another 60,000 meters will be developed at Punta Sur.
At the former Tarabusi company site, Basque authorities laid the foundation stone this Monday for the first building of the technology park. The building will bear the name of Basque researcher and professor of Experimental Psychology at Deusto, Helena Matute, who was present at the event. The building will maintain the aesthetics of the former Tarabusi pavilion, and another building will be added to it.
The mayor of Bilbao, Juan Mari Aburto, called Mondragón and Idom "brave for opening the doors to other business projects that will come in the near future."
Idom will build its science factory in Zorrotzaurre, very close to its headquarters in the Bilbao neighborhood of San Ignacio. According to initial estimates, it will invest 50 million in this building, which will include laboratories, an integration room, and clean rooms for developing engineering systems in areas such as astronomy, particle physics, nuclear energy, space, and renewable energy.
The Mondragón corporation will also build a digital factory, investing more than 20 million euros, along with its university and Ikerlan technology center. In these facilities, the cooperative group will develop digital technologies, artificial intelligence, data analytics, cybersecurity, robotics, and smart energy systems.
The developers of the new park believe it consolidates their multi-campus model. Zorrotzaurre will join the six existing campuses: three in Bizkaia (Zamudio, Leioa, and Abanto), two in Gipuzkoa (San Sebastián and Hernani), and one in Álava (Vitoria).
