Meta AI publishes private chats users have with the AI assistant.

Meta AI is making public the private messages people exchange with Meta's AI assistant, thanks to its integration with Instagram , without the message writers even realizing it.

In recent hours, many users and cybersecurity experts have warned of a serious problem affecting the privacy of users who have started using the Meta AI application, launched by the company led by Mark Zuckerberg on April 29.

Specifically, when asking a question, if you're logged into the app with Instagram, a "share" button appears, leading to a preview of the post showing the conversation the user is having with the chatbot.

The problem is that simply clicking on this option causes the conversations to appear publicly in the Discover feed , without the user knowing, since Meta does not inform them in their privacy settings when or where they are published.

Ongoing security issues

Cybersecurity expert Rachel Tobac has mentioned several cases in which users have unwittingly posted personal content, including information about medical issues, crimes committed, questions about the legality of certain actions, or even their home address, among other things, according to a post on her X profile.

This fact adds a new chapter to all the problems Meta has had throughout its history with the privacy of the personal data of its app users.
