WhatsApp: Activate the contact photo in cell phone notifications

WhatsApp continues to add new features to improve the user experience, and one of the most recent is the ability to view a contact's profile picture in mobile notifications.

When you receive a message, you'll no longer only see the Meta app logo next to the notification, but you'll also now be able to see who sent the message without having to enter the app.

However, it's important to know that this feature is only available for users with Android devices running version 11 of the operating system. Therefore, iPhone users won't be able to activate this feature yet.

How to activate the contact photo in cell phone notifications

On Android, this new feature is displayed as "Priority Conversations" and can be activated directly from the notification panel by following these steps:

  1. When you receive a WhatsApp message from a contact you want to prioritize, first swipe down the notification bar and tap and hold the message from that contact.
  2. A context menu will open with different options.
  3. Tap where it says " Priority".
  4. Finally, press " Confirm".

Once this is done, the next message that arrives from the assigned person will display their profile picture directly in the notification.

This procedure doesn't automatically apply to all contacts, so you'll need to repeat it for each one you want to customize. This setting can also be applied to other instant messaging apps.
