Honor Magic V5: the world's thinnest foldable smartphone arrives in China

As Samsung prepares to unveil its thinnest foldable smartphone yet, Honor is taking the lead by officially announcing the new Magic V5. The latter beats Samsung on its own turf, measuring just 8.8mm thick and weighing 217g. The smartphone will be released later this year in China and is also expected to be released in Europe in the coming months.

Last year, we were able to test the Honor Magic V3 and it surprised us with its performance and thinness compared to some of the still very strong competitors in the foldable phone market. Honor is doing it again this year by unveiling the Magic V5, which once again focuses on thinness while benefiting from a Snapdragon 8 processor.
To achieve such a slim design, Honor has focused on an ultra-thin silicon-carbon battery with a capacity of 6100 mAh. The company combines this battery life with fast charging of up to 66W wired and 50W wireless.
On the camera side, the Honor Magic V5 makes no compromises given its status as a foldable smartphone. The device features a 50MP main lens coupled with a 64MP telephoto lens powered by the company's AI. A 50MP ultra-wide angle completes the package.
The Honor Magic V5 will be available "by the end of the year" in China in four colors. Its starting price is set at 8999 RMB (around 1200 euros), but this price is expected to be much higher when it arrives here due to various French and European taxes.
