In Karpacz, not only about business – Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, a guest of the Economic Forum
This year, a special guest will be Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski , an astronaut with the European Space Agency. His presence will highlight the growing importance of space exploration as an area of technological development and a field of competition between global powers.
Space as a new field of competition and cooperationThe panel discussion, "Journey into the Unknown – Space as an Area of Technological Development and Great Power Rivalry," scheduled for September 3rd from 1:45–2:45 PM, will explore the future of space exploration. Experts from around the world will discuss how space technologies – from satellites to plans for the colonization of Mars – are transforming our lives and geopolitics.
The panelists will include:
- Christer Fuglesang – Swedish astronaut and currently Director of the KTH Space Centre (Sweden),
- Alexander MacDonald – former chief economist of NASA (USA),
- Danilo Rubini – representative of the Italian Space Agency (Italy),
- Mikołaj Zawadzki – head of research projects at the University of Warsaw
- Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski – ESA astronaut (Poland). The debate will be moderated by Rareș-Cristian Bișag, president of the Romanian Space Initiative (ROSPIN).
Immediately following the panel, at 3:15 PM on the Main Stage, there will be a unique one-on-one meeting with Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski. This will be an opportunity to learn about his space mission, reflect on the role of science in space exploration, and discuss technological solutions that, although originally developed for space exploration, are increasingly finding applications on Earth.
The conversation will be led by Bartosz Majewski, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology Transfer at the Warsaw School of Economics.
The 2025 Economic Forum – the largest conference in the region – will gather over 6,000 participants and offer them access to approximately 600 events created in cooperation with over 300 business, institutional and media partners.
