Two Lyon researchers awarded an exceptional European grant

The European Research Council (ERC) has awarded two Lyon researchers, François Rousset and Katja Doose, a "Starting Grant."
Lyon research continues to shine at the European level. The European Research Council (ERC) announced the list of recipients of the "Starting Grant" on Friday, September 5, and among them, two Lyon researchers were selected. The first is François Rousset, a researcher at the International Center for Infectious Disease Research, for his work on conflicts between bacteria and viruses. The second is Katja Doose, a researcher at the Rhône-Alpes Historical Research Laboratory, for her work on the history of non-Western discourses on environmental change.
Starting Grants are awarded to young researchers who want to launch their own projects. "The objective is to fund exploratory research projects for a maximum duration of 5 years and an average budget of 1.5 million euros," specifies the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS). All the winners come from 25 European countries, including Germany (99 projects), the United Kingdom (60), the Netherlands (44), and France (41).
