Metaverse for Italian culture in the world: MICIT program presented to the Chamber

The project “Luoghi e Percorsi Immersivi d'Italia” was presented today in the Sala Matteotti of the Chamber of Deputies, created by Archeoclub d'Italia and born in the incubator In The Green Future , which accompanied the proponent in the path from the business idea to the aspects. Responsible for the technical project Immensive srl. This is the first operational step of the MICIT program – Metaverse for Italian Culture, Identity and Tradition in the world – an initiative that stands out in the panorama of cultural digitalization for its concrete attention to marginal territories, to the co-construction of content with local communities and to the integration between metaverse and social and economic regeneration. MICIT is not a simple project, but an innovative, inclusive and interdisciplinary model that connects universities, local authorities, cultural enterprises, third sector entities and communities. At its core is the idea of an Italy capable of transforming its memory and heritage into leverage for the future, through immersive digital technologies that generate employment, new entrepreneurship and identity awareness. The metaverse, in this vision, is not an alternative to reality, but an enabling device that strengthens the physical experience and enjoyment of places.
During the event, moderated by Barbara Carfagna, institutional, academic and business representatives alternated, including Giorgio Maria Tosi Beleffi of the Cabinet of the Minister-MIMIT, Carlo Birrozzi director of the Central Institute for the Catalog and Documentation of the Ministry of Culture, Sergio Nardini of the Vanvitelli University, who highlighted the strategic partnership with In The Green Future , and Adriana Rossi of the Department of Engineering of the same University, Edoardo Colombo of Turismi.AI, Federico Tozzi of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce, Roberta De Santis of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates and Francesco Sorrentino, representative of Immensive srl, technological partner of the project. Adriana Rossi presented the PRIN “SCORPiò-NIDI”, while Rosario Santanastasio, national president of Archeoclub, highlighted the urgency of inclusive responses in the field of culture and access to heritage.
Raffaello Dinacci, founder of In The Green Future, emphasized the transformative value of the metaverse: “For the first time, we are building a systemic comparison between local dynamics and global strategies. MICIT is not a technological application, but a best practice that combines sustainability, identity and innovation, capable of generating real and measurable impact in the territories”. And he added: “Our goal is to ensure that fragile territories are no longer spectators, but protagonists of change, also through digital tools. We want to export culture, not just content, and build a market for Italian identities in the world”.
MICIT is configured as a replicable national model of regeneration through digital culture, founded on four operational axes, starting from the Charter for Accessibility and Immersive Cultural Inclusion, which defines common principles for universal and inclusive access; and the Observatory for Sustainable and Digital Tourism, which monitors the environmental, economic and social impact of immersive experiences using ESG indicators.
According to Dinacci, “MICIT is a strategic response to the fragmentation of the Italian digital cultural offering. We aim to create a stable and shared ecosystem that enhances culture as a business, technology as a tool for cohesion and the territory as capital. The real challenge is to make this model scalable and supported by institutions. Now it is up to politics, businesses and local authorities to grasp its potential”.
In The Green Future intends to consolidate and strengthen the vision underlying MICIT, promoting the public legitimacy of its proposals and structuring a permanent dialogue between public and private entities. The incubator proposes itself as a catalyst for innovative processes, carrying out programs such as “From the roots to the metaverse – Digital culture for identity export”, encouraging the involvement of Italian Chambers of Commerce abroad, as demonstrated by the presence of other representatives of the Italy-America Chamber of Commerce and the Italian Chamber of Commerce in the United Arab Emirates, and promoting sustainable identity marketing based on the ESG principles of Agenda 2030. MICIT thus proposes itself as a model of “shared digital lexicon”, an enabling device for new ways of being on the market and a concrete opportunity to build networks between B2B and B2C subjects. The stakes are high: will Italy be able to transform its past into a digital future? To make the metaverse a tool for cohesion and not exclusion? MICIT indicates a possible path. Now we need vision, alliances and political will to make it become a system.
