Motorola Raz 60 Ultra is beautiful and elegant regardless of AI

The Motorola Razr 60 Ultra is a beautiful and elegant phone, undeniably different from the others. It is a flip phone that “looks at you”, that understands when we are looking at it and reacts by activating a rainbow frame. It integrates Gemini - like many Android phones - but it also has a collaboration with Perplexity and with Moto Ai shows the intention of wanting to customize and simplify access to artificial intelligence functions.

"Just as the internet changed the world thirty years ago - observes Carlo Barlocco, a veteran of this sector and currently Executive Director & General Manager of Motorola - I am convinced that artificial intelligence will also change smartphones. We do not know if they will get smaller and if the current form factor will change. But it will not be a sudden revolution. Our artificial intelligence (Moto Ai ed.) helps us improve things that we already know how to do, such as offering us options on texts and suggesting decisions. We are all waiting for predictive AI, which is the real point of arrival, the one that knows my habits, knows what time it is and what is happening in the world, will advise me on what to do and what to do. If there is a further evolution, if privacy allows it, it will act in place of the individual".
In the meantime, the “fundamentals” of the smartphone remain important, which are basically those of the pre-generative artificial intelligence era. From this point of view, the Razr appears to be a carefully thought out and designed phone, which does not promise to be the definitive Ai-phone but interprets the concept of foldable by focusing everything on production quality and excellent hardware. In this sense, it is a vintage product. «If we think about Gen Z - adds Barlocco - today young people live with a smartphone in their hand, the screen is so important to them that some don't even have a ringtone: they notice the call when it lights up. Flip and foldable smartphones are born closed, they fit in your pocket, they consume less energy from this point of view. And today - he comments - they are devices for people who have finished university and who therefore have different space and mobility needs than the very young». The higher price is another factor to take into consideration even if according to the Motorola manager, foldables are becoming increasingly cheaper.
The Razr 60 Ultra we tested for a few days appears to be a powerful device, designed to last.

Compared to the previous model, it has a redesigned titanium reinforced hinge and protection against dust and water. It mounts a Snapdragon 8 Elite which guarantees the best performance, it gives a feeling of robustness that other flip phones do not have. The Mountain Trail model has an FSC wood finish and is really special while the hands-free voice interaction functions do not seem very clear yet. The problem of the cost remains: 1249 euros is a lot.
