The interstellar object 3I/ATLAS exhibited anomalous activity during its closest approach to the Sun. Observations conducted on November 8th recorded a complex system of seven jets directed toward the Sun and a luminous halo extending half a million kilometers.
According to the Daily Star, Harvard astrophysicist Avi Loeb hasn't ruled out an artificial origin for the phenomenon. He believes the jets could be the result of natural processes at the comet's nucleus or traces of the spacecraft's engines.
Object 3I/ATLAS has unique characteristics: it is a confirmed interstellar traveler with the most elongated orbital path among bodies known to science.
