It was announced that the project will be carried out with the support of payment technology company Visa, in cooperation with UNDP and Habitat Association. It was stated that the aim is to reach 2,000 people with online and face-to-face trainings throughout Türkiye in the first phase.
Visa Turkey General Manager Samile Mümin made a statement on the subject, saying, “We have invested over 12 billion dollars worldwide to combat fraud and increase network security. Now, in line with our main business, we are focusing on finding solutions to real problems in society and creating social impact. With the ‘I am Safe in Digital’ project, we aim to raise awareness in society against increasing fraud attempts in the digital age. In our trainings, we address fraud techniques such as social engineering, phishing, malware, and artificial intelligence-based attacks, along with real cases. We show how fraudsters exploit people’s emotions such as fear, panic, compassion, curiosity, sense of opportunity, respect for authority, and trust; we are trying to spread the “Stop, Think, Consult” or 3D Rule against these emotional manipulations.”
Habitat Association Executive Board Chairman Bora Caldu said, “As Habitat Association, with the ‘I am Safe in Digital’ Project that we have implemented in partnership with Visa and UNDP Turkey, we are focusing on digital fraud, a fundamental problem that society is facing, and aim to increase awareness in this area. We are taking an active role in the training and implementation process of the project by combining our strong experience in the field with Visa’s expertise in digital security and UNDP’s global approach. Through training, workshops, animations, podcasts and information campaigns, we aim to help individuals recognize the risks they face in the digital world and learn how to stay safer.”
Mustafa Ali Yurdupak, Deputy Resident Representative for Programs, UNDP Turkey, said, “Secure digital environments accelerate human development by supporting individuals’ processes of acquiring knowledge and developing skills. Therefore, they strengthen resistance to crises by increasing social resilience. This new activity that we have initiated with Visa and Habitat Association aims to turn this goal into a concrete step. We would like to thank Visa, which has been making technological investments against fraud for many years, for its contributions. The project was shaped by Visa’s deep knowledge and field training will be carried out with Habitat’s expertise.”
