Goodbye to airplanes... Elon Musk's ambitious proposal that will change intercontinental travel

Donald Trump's official proposal promises to drastically reduce flight times, allowing continents to be crossed in less than an hour.

According to cronista.com, the new project, prepared by the director of the US Department of Government Efficiency and estimated to cost around 20 billion dollars, is one of the most ambitious promises of the businessman. If the initiative is realized, it could change intercontinental mobility definitively.

According to estimates shared by Musk on his X account (formerly Twitter), his company (The Boring Company) can build the tunnel for "1000 times less money" than the initially estimated cost.

Specifically, the very large underwater tunnel will allow trains to reach theoretical speeds of 4,828 km/h (3,000 mph) thanks to a vacuum system that will almost completely eliminate air resistance.

It will reduce the 7-hour journey to 1 hour

This means the journey between the two cities, which currently takes around seven hours by plane, could be done in less than an hour, revolutionising the way people cross the Atlantic.

Despite the enthusiasm generated by the businessman's proposal, there are many challenges that need to be addressed before this project can become a reality.

In addition, concerns about environmental impact and weather-related risks also play a crucial role in the feasibility of the project.
