Minister Kacır: We will send a spacecraft to the Moon

Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, who came to Gaziantep, attended the ‘ÖNDER 22nd Imam Hatip Graduates Congress’. Speaking here, Minister Kacır said, “Our goal is to build a Turkey that can produce its own technology in all areas of industry and technology, from transportation to energy, agriculture to healthcare and finance, just as we have succeeded in the defense industry. We have built a large ecosystem in order to do this.” “WE REACHED A IMPORTANT POINT IN THE FIELD OF UAVS” Stating that Turkey has reached a significant point in the production of military-grade unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), Minister Kacır stated that they have increased exports in this field from 36 billion dollars to 270 billion dollars. Stating that defense and aerospace exports rose from 248 million dollars to over 7 billion dollars in 2024, Minister Kacır emphasized that they aim to increase this figure over 9 billion dollars in 2025.
Minister Kacır stated that work is ongoing to deliver a spacecraft produced with a domestically produced hybrid rocket engine to the moon, saying, "We are now preparing for new space missions. God willing, we will deliver a spacecraft we produced with our own hybrid rocket engine, bearing our own star and crescent flag, to the moon, which is 380,000 kilometers away. By the end of next year, 2026, we will have successfully prepared the spacecraft that will also carry out the lunar mission and send it to the moon in the following months. The global space economy contributes $600 billion annually. This allocated share is projected to reach $1 trillion. Therefore, as Turkey, we will strive to implement these ambitious projects to become one of the countries that benefits from the space economy."
