Roblox has increased its security measures

With the new system, Roblox is changing the term "Friends" to "Connections." Young users will be able to engage in unfiltered chat and voice communication through Trusted Connections, provided their age is verified. However, this feature will only be available to users the system deems trustworthy.

According to Techcrunch, Roblox Product Manager Ryan Ebanks stated that this change aims to deter young people from communicating off-platform and provide a safer environment. All communication through Trusted Connections is proactively monitored for potentially harmful content or online harassment.

AGE VERIFICATION IS REQUIRED

Young people who want to use Trusted Connections must prove they are at least 13 years old using facial recognition-assisted age estimation technology . If the system fails to verify this, users can gain access using the identity verification option.

Communication with users aged 18 and over will only be possible if proof of previous real-life acquaintance is provided via a QR code.

EXPANDED CONTROL PANEL FOR PARENTS

Roblox is introducing a new dashboard for parents to more closely monitor their children's activity on the platform. This dashboard allows parents to:

• Who their children are in contact with,
• How much time they spend on which games,
• It makes it possible to receive notifications when they perform certain actions.

Additionally, young users can choose who can see whether they are online or not and mute notifications during certain hours.

ROBLOX BAN CONTINUES IN Türkiye

In Turkey, the Roblox access ban remains a hot topic. The platform, which has been the subject of controversy in recent years due to its content deemed unsuitable for children, was blocked following complaints filed with the Radio and Television Supreme Council (RTÜK) and the Information and Communication Technologies Authority (BTK) . The platform's adult-themed user content and violent content, in particular, have sparked public outrage.

It is a matter of curiosity how the blocking process regarding Roblox will proceed after these new security measures.
