Shocking investigation into Apple from Spain

Spain ’s antitrust regulator has announced that it is expanding its investigation into possible anti-competitive behavior by Apple , alleging that the company imposes unequal trading conditions on developers of mobile apps sold on its app store. The expanded investigation, led by the CNMC, will examine whether the tech giant has established a pricing scheme that developers must follow when distributing their apps on the App Store and whether this scheme restricts competition between companies. Apple said in a statement that the App Store is designed to be “a safe and reliable experience for users and a great business opportunity for developers in Spain and around the world” and that it will continue to cooperate with the CNMC to “ensure our concerns are fully understood.” The company has denied the allegations since the CNMC launched the investigation a year ago.
