Sound Barrier to be Broken in Ankara Skies: Warning from Governorate

The Ankara Governor's Office announced that a military jet, whose modernization process has been completed, will exceed the speed of sound during a test flight. According to the governor's announcement on social media, the flight will take place today between 15:00 and 16:00.

The test flight will be carried out between Ayaş and Beypazarı districts of the military aircraft modernized at the Mürted Air Base, at an altitude of over 30 thousand feet. It was stated that the aircraft will exceed the speed of sound, and citizens were asked not to worry about the high noise level that may occur for this reason.

The statement said, "This information is being provided so that the local people do not experience anxiety," and asked citizens on the flight route to be careful and conscious.

A military aircraft modernized at TAI Mürted facilities will exceed the sound speed for testing purposes at 30,000 feet and above between BEYPAZARI-AYAŞ today at 15:00-16:00. It is presented to the local people on the route in order to avoid any uneasiness.

Spain has announced tourism data for May and the first five months of the year 2025. The number of tourists visiting the country in May increased by 1.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching 9 million 395 thousand.

The country that sent the most visitors to Spain during this period was the United Kingdom with 2 million 53 thousand people. The list was followed by France with 1 million 193 thousand, Germany with 1 million 157 thousand, the United States with 500 thousand and Italy with 498 thousand.

However, there was a decrease in the number of visitors from some countries. The number of tourists from Germany decreased by 6.1%, from France by 6.7%, from the Netherlands by 2% and from Switzerland by 3%.

35 Million Tourists in the First Five Months

The total number of visitors to Spain in the January-May period of 2025 increased by 5.5% compared to the same period last year, reaching 35 million 19 thousand.

The country that sent the most tourists in the first five months of the year was again the United Kingdom with 6 million 779 thousand visitors. France came to the fore with 4 million 570 thousand, Germany with 4 million 500 thousand, Italy with 2 million 63 thousand and the Netherlands with 1 million 740 thousand visitors.

While the announced data show that Spain continues its stable growth in tourism, the declines in some European markets have drawn attention. Authorities plan to intensify their search for new markets and promotional activities in order to ensure sustainability in tourism.
