The Minister of Defense is vying for space contracts for Poland. Nuclear energy is also in the background.

The Minister of Defense is vying for space contracts for Poland. Nuclear energy is also in the background.

As "BI" reports, Kamal Ghaffarian, CEO of Axiom Space, is in Warsaw . It was this company's mission that allowed Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski to fly into space in June. Ghaffarian is scheduled to meet with Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, Minister of National Defense.

As Business Insider Polska has established, the meeting will focus on the cooperation of Polish institutions and economic entities in the project of building a new International Space Station and producing components for subsequent editions of the Axiom Space space transport capsules .

The Polish government is increasingly focusing on space technologies. The Vinci Fund, owned by BGK, has invested over PLN 40 million in the Polish-Finnish Iceye.

In this way, the Polish development bank stands alongside other investors in the company, such as the largest investment company BlackRock, the EIB and the Finnish state-owned Solidium Oy.

Nearly half a billion in revenue, 700 employees, and a portfolio of contracts from around the world – that's the current balance sheet of Iceye, the Polish-Finnish leader in Earth radar observation. The company was founded 10 years ago by two students – Rafał Modrzewski from Poland and Pekka Laurila from Finland.

Perhaps X-energy's small nuclear reactors will be placed in green industrial areas

The CEO of Axiom Space is also the founder and owner of X-energy, a company that wants to build small nuclear reactors (SMRs).

According to "BI", the meeting will discuss the possibilities of involving the Polish industrial sector in the SMR nuclear energy project implemented by X-energy and locating fourth-generation SMR investments, with the support of funds from the US Department of Energy, in planned green industrial districts in Poland.

The National Centre for Nuclear Research signed a letter of intent with Kamal Ghaffarian's company in 2017 regarding the development of nuclear energy. X-energy has designed a small, modular Xe-100 reactor, cooled by helium and powered by granular nuclear fuel, Business Insider Polska recalls.
