ASELFLIR-600 exceeded the world standard: tested at AKINCI

ASELFLIR-600 exceeded the world standard: tested at AKINCI

Turkey's latest breakthroughs in the defense industry were once again showcased at the 17th International Defense Industry Fair held in Istanbul. Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar announced in a statement at the fair that the next-generation electro-optical system ASELFLIR-600, developed by ASELSAN, was tested on AKINCI and that this technology surpassed global standards. Bayraktar highlighted Turkey's increasing rate of localization, saying, "This success is an expression of our nation's passion for freedom."

ASELFLIR-600 LEFT ITS COMPETITORS BEHIND

Baykar Chairman Selçuk Bayraktar announced that they tested the ASELFLIR-600 electro-optical reconnaissance, surveillance, and targeting system, developed by ASELSAN, on the AKINCI Unmanned Attack Aerial Vehicle (TİHA). Bayraktar stated, "The ASELFLIR-600 performs twice as well as its foreign counterparts. This is a significant milestone for our defense industry."

The ASELFLIR-600 stands out with its high-resolution imaging capability, precise target acquisition, and long-range surveillance capabilities. The domestically developed system can be used on a variety of platforms, from UAVs to fighter jets.

ASELSAN RADARS IN KIZILELMA AND AKINCI

Bayraktar also highlighted his collaboration with ASELSAN in his speech. Emphasizing that ASELSAN's radar systems are used in the KIZILELMA unmanned combat aircraft and the AKINCI UCAV, developed by Baykar, Bayraktar said, "This success is not only a technological advancement, but also a demonstration of the strength of our ecosystem."

Bayraktar stated that Türkiye will continue its success in this area and that all stakeholders act with a common vision.

EMPHASIS ON AN INDEPENDENT DEFENSE ECOSYSTEM

In his speech, Selçuk Bayraktar also highlighted the increasing rate of localization in the defense industry. Recalling that 20 years ago, Türkiye was 80 percent dependent on foreign sources, Bayraktar stated that today this ratio has reversed:

We have currently reached 80 percent localization in the defense industry. As Baykar, we are the global leader in the UAV and UCAV markets. However, we cannot say we've finished everything. We still have a long way to go. Our goal is to reach the capacity to meet the needs of all friendly and brotherly geographies and build a fully independent defense ecosystem.
