ASELSAN and ROKETSAN Take a Strategic Step for GÖKBORA

Turkey is taking its national air defense capabilities a step further. A new contract has been signed, led by the Presidency of Defense Industries (SSB) and in collaboration with ASELSAN and ROKETSAN, for the development of an Active Phased Array (AESA) Seeker and Onboard Data Link for the long-range air-to-air missile GÖKBORA.
The signing ceremony was held at the SSB stand as part of the IDEF 2025 International Defense Industry Fair in Istanbul. SSB President Prof. Dr. Haluk Görgün, ASELSAN CEO Ahmet Akyol, and ROKETSAN General Manager Murat İkinci attended the ceremony.
Local AESA Seeker Head for GÖKBORA
With the signing of the contract, the GÖKBORA missile's seeker will be the first to feature AESA technology to be developed nationally in Türkiye. Active Phased Array Radar technology offers numerous strategic advantages, including high precision in target detection and tracking, resistance to jamming, and long-range capability.
National Data Link Integration
The onboard missile data link to be developed as part of the project will be designed to operate in conjunction with the National Tactical Data Link (MTDL). This will enable GÖKBORA to gain greater operational flexibility through target update and command and control integration during missions.
New Generation Technology for the Security of the Sky Homeland
This collaboration, considered a critical milestone in Türkiye's pursuit of complete independence in air defense, represents a strategic alliance for the security of the "Sky Homeland." ASELSAN's engineering strengths in radar and seeker warheads, along with ROKETSAN's extensive experience in missile systems, will play a decisive role in bringing GÖKBORA into the inventory as a world-class system.
This development was recorded as a reflection of Türkiye's commitment to domestic and national defense solutions based on advanced technology.
