Another feature is being removed from Google Maps

Google has decided to remove the Maps feature that allows users to track each other. It was announced that settings will not be affected; only tracking data will be deleted. The feature was first added in 2018.
ANOTHER FEATURE IS COMING FROM GOOGLE MAPSThis feature allowed users to follow businesses. This allowed them to stay up-to-date on events, closures, or important announcements. The feature was expanded in 2020, allowing users to follow each other.
The ability for users to follow each other allowed users to obtain various types of information, from seeing whether people with common interests liked places they visited to comments about places people they liked.
The reason for disabling the feature is to prevent fake or spam content from reaching users. If you're interested in using this feature, there's a platform called Local Guides Connect, which Google also directs its users to. It functions more as a community space, where you can upload photos, leave comments, and connect with other users.
