India's F-35 Statement: No Official Meetings Held with the US

India's F-35 Statement: No Official Meetings Held with the US

India has announced that there have been no official discussions yet regarding the purchase of F-35 fighter jets from the US. Indian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh stated in Parliament that talks with the US regarding the fifth-generation fighter jets have been discussed, but no official steps have been taken yet.

This statement came after the US announced that it would impose a 25% tariff on India starting August 1. Former US President Donald Trump criticized India's energy imports and arms purchases from Russia, stating that additional penalties would be imposed in addition to the tariffs.

Trump also announced a cooperation agreement with Pakistan to develop a large oil reserve. Meanwhile, the US State Department announced sanctions on six Indian entities for their alleged trade with Iran.
